From Sister Clifford

I’m excited to share another missionary post! This testimony comes from Sister Clifford who is serving her mission in Utah, USA.

Testimony from a Missionary

What is one name of Jesus Christ that is meaningful to you?

“Redeemer”.

“Redeemer” is one of the main names of Jesus used throughout the scriptures.

Through Jesus Christ and His Atonement, there is always hope.  There is always a chance to start again—to feel joy in a journey where we will make mistakes and have times where we falter.  But as we put our faith in Him, we know we always have someone in our corner who is always patiently waiting to receive us, lift us back up, and walk with us along the difficult path of life.

“Now if this is boasting, even so will I boast; for this is my life and my light, my joy and my salvation, and my redemption from everlasting wo. Yea, blessed is the name of my God, who has been mindful of this people, who are a branch of the tree of Israel, and has been lost from its body in a strange land; yea, I say, blessed be the name of my God, who has been mindful of us, wanderers in a strange land.”

Alma 26:36

What is one experience that has brought you closer to Jesus Christ?

After I had decided to try to submit my mission papers again in October of 2024 (I first tried in the beginning of 2023 to submit papers, but I still had a lot of things I needed to work through), I ended up having quite a few experiences that helped strengthen my relationship with Jesus Christ.  I feel I cannot speak about them too deeply or in much detail, but what I can say is that prayer is truly powerful, and He truly does hear us and is indeed our advocate with the Father.

He knows us.  He knows our hearts, and He sees the part of us that cares about others and the part that yearns to do good and to follow Him.  That is the part of us that He works with; the part of us that He helps to mold into something greater than we could ever imagine despite our personal dark sides, imperfections, and the things we physically cannot control.

Whether they are spoken aloud or just in the confines of our hearts, our prayers reach Him.  The questions and wonders we have may seem small at times to us, but no sincere question or wonder is too small to Him.

Anything else that you would like to add?

There are so many things I would love to share about myself and my testimony.

I feel like we all go through hard times when our testimonies are shaken and we have to decide whether to press forward and carry on with trust in the Lord despite the unknown, or to give up after everything we have been through and learned.

I guess what I’m trying to say is (and I say this from experience): please don’t give up on the Lord.  Please do not turn away from Him; from His mercy, His grace, His love, and His guidance.  He yearns to be with us every step of the way as we go along our individual mortal journeys, and He will always be there to pick us back up whenever we stumble or fall.  There may be so much that is unknown, but with Him walking with us, we know that there is always someone we can trust.  He hasn’t given up on you.  Don’t give up on Him.

Thoughts about Jesus Christ—our Advocate, our Savior, and our Friend.

Questions To Ponder On

How does Jesus Christ respond to our weaknesses and imperfections?

He sees the part of us that cares about others and yearns to do good. That is the part He works with, helping to mold us into something greater than we could ever imagine, despite our personal imperfections or the things beyond our control.

How can Jesus Christ help us during times of spiritual struggle or uncertainty?

He yearns to be with us every step of the way as we go through our individual mortal journeys. He will always be there to pick us back up whenever we stumble or fall, offering mercy, grace, love, and guidance.

What kind of relationship can we have with Jesus Christ if we choose to trust Him?

With Him walking beside us, we always have someone we can trust. He hasn’t given up on us, and He asks us not to give up on Him.
