From Mzee Clifford

This is the first of hopefully many more missionary posts. I’ll be sharing the words directly from missionaries about their testimony of Jesus Christ.

This post comes from Elder Clifford (or “Mzee Clifford” in Swahili), who is currently serving in Tanzania. Enjoy!

Testimony from a Missionary

What is one name of Jesus Christ that is meaningful to you?

One of the names of Jesus Christ that has a special meaning to me is the Lamb of God. This is meaningful to me because like a lamb sent to the slaughter, our Heavenly Father sent His Only Begotten Son to die and atone for the sins of all mankind. This name never fails to help me reflect on what Jesus Christ has done for me and feel the sheer love that He has for me.

What is one experience that has brought you closer to Jesus Christ?

One experience that strengthened my personal relationship with Jesus Christ was when I read the climax to the gospel of Matthew, where many people scoffed and mocked the crucified Savior on the cross. He endured all kinds of suffering, even humiliation for me and for you, even knowing that He had the power to stop it.

Najua kwamba Yesu Kristo ndiye mwokozi na mkombozi wa ulimwengu na najua kwamba kumpitia Yesu Kristo sisi tunaweza kupokea msamaha kwa ajili ya dhambi zetu na pia najua kwamba Yesu anazijua changamoto zetu zote kwa sababu ameshapitia pale pale. Najue Yesu alijichukulia juu yake majiribio, maumivu, na hofu ya kila mtu. Na pia, najua tukijitahidi kumtegemea Yesu Kristo sisi kama wanadamu tunaweza kushinda changamoto zetu na pia kupewa uzima wa milele kwa sababu yeye alifufuka na kushinda kifo. Sisi sote tunaweza kufufuka na kushinda kifo baada ya maisha haya. Nasema haya yote katika jina la Yesu Kristo. Amina.

I know that Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world, and I know that through Jesus Christ we can recieve forgiveness for our sins. I also know that Jesus knows all of our challenges because He has already passed through them. I know Jesus Christ took upon Himself the tribulations, pains, and fears of everyone. And also, I know if we strive to rely on Jesus Christ we as human beings can overcome our challenges and also be given eternal life because He was resurrected and overcame death. All of us can be resurrected and overcome death after this life. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

What does Jesus Christ understand about our personal struggles?

Jesus Christ understands all of our challenges because He has already passed through them. He took upon Himself the tribulations, pains, and fears of everyone, making Him a perfect source of comfort and strength.

How can relying on Jesus Christ help us overcome life’s difficulties?

When we strive to rely on Jesus Christ, we can overcome our challenges. Through His resurrection and victory over death, He gives us the power to face and rise above our trials, with the hope of eternal life.

What promise does Jesus Christ offer about life after death?

Because Jesus Christ was resurrected and overcame death, all of us can also be resurrected and overcome death after this life. This is a central promise of His gospel and a source of lasting hope.
