Who is Jesus Christ? He has many, many names. One of those is “Advocate with the Father”.
“3 Listen to him who is the advocate with the Father, who is pleading your cause before him—
4 Saying: Father, behold the sufferings and death of him who did no sin, in whom thou wast well pleased; behold the blood of thy Son which was shed, the blood of him whom thou gavest that thyself might be glorified;
5 Wherefore, Father, spare these my brethren that believe on my name, that they may come unto me and have everlasting life.”
Doctrine and Covenant 45:3-5
An advocate is someone who publicly fights for a person or idea, who puts their own reputation on the line for something or someone else. By being our Advocate, Jesus Christ, the only perfect person to ever walk this earth, shows that He believes we, with all our failings and imperfections, are worth fighting for.
That sure sounds like a pure expression of love to me. If the God of the Universe can love you that much, take a little bit of time to love yourself today, too.
